Ceylon cinnamon is completely safe to consume on a daily basis. Due to its ultra-low coumarin concentration (0.004 percent), it never exceeds the TDI level. Cassia cinnamon contains 1200 times the amount of coumarin found in Ceylon cinnamon (5%), easily above the TDI limit. In 2006, the BfR issued a warning against using cassia cinnamon on a regular basis due to its high coumarin level.
